A new look!

21 04 2009 - 03:18

No no no, I am not dyeing my hair or getting a perm or anything, I am quite handsome enough thank you. No, my male human informed me today that this website will be getting a new look soon!

It is all to do with our hosting provider, the subscription for which is just up for renewal and Tim being Tim looked for a better deal. Actually I don’t think it is any cheaper, but he likes the look of it, so in a couple of weeks the website will be “hosted” by someone else, and will look a bit different. Don’t worry, Tim reassures me he will be able to “import” all my blogs so we won’t lose it all (I just hope this all works, or else we lose my life history!! And it has been suggested to me that I might want to publish these blogs after all some day!)

He did say there might be a slight time lag so for a couple of days the site may be unavailable. If you experience this please try again later!

Anyway the new site will be revamped by my computer literate male human to feature ME more and remove the older out of date things. He told me also I will have to learn again how to post my blogs as the system will be a bit different. I am a bit worried about that as I am not good with IT system changes! Neither is my female human!

Anyway what I really wonder is whether this refreshed MELTED GOLD will make Tim blog again? He took well over a year off recently, the lazy thing, then blogged sporadically for a few months, but you will notice his last blog was in June last year. It will soon be its anniversary again! Meantime I have written over 240 blogs!!!! (I just counted them!)

The only useful blog he has done was one from 25.3.07 – over two years ago- about resetting the Nissan service reminder on the car. Amazingly this is still receiving comments and compliments from people who have used it to sort theirs!

An open door...

20 04 2009 - 02:32

This lovely sunny weather has its definite advantages! My humans have been encouraging me to make the most of our back garden, which is safely enclosed for me! (unlike our previous house where there was easy entry into the sheep field – or the pub next door!)

And, when it is sunny and they are floating around the house they often leave the back door open for me so I can come and go as I please! It is great fun! I go out and have a roll around the grass and chase some birds, then I come in for a biscuit or a drink or water, and go out to play with my ball! I go in and out a lot and sometimes just sit at the door, watching!

It makes me realise just how lucky Monty cat is as he has his own wee door within the back door, with on-demand access to the garden and the outside world 24/7. So tonight I asked the humans if they could just remove the bottom panel of the door, thereby making a Max-size cat flap. However they refused and indeed laughed at my suggestion!

helping Hilary

19 04 2009 - 00:22

I have been a Useful Dog today helping my female human around the house. For some strange reason this afternoon while Tim was out at a meeting she decided to clean the living room. I say “strange” as this is one of Tim’s jobs not her’s (my humans share the housework and domestic chores out very fairly). She was either trying to be kind to Tim as he has had so much on recently and very little free time, or the state of the living room had driven her to despair!

Either way instead of basking in the sunshine outside she set about cleaning the living room and this included clearing out my food cupboard! As our kitchen and utility area are very short on storage space for food and cooking items my food is kept, along with the hoover, in the boiler cupboard which is in the dining area of the living room. needless to say over the last few months that has become rather messy with broken dog biscuits and spilt mixer, and an unhealthy sprinkling of cat litter as that is where it is stored too!

So Hilary pulled everything out to clean it out and rearrange the items, and while she was doing that I retreived a bag of my dog treats had dumped on the living room floor and ran off with them! By the time Hilary found me there was only a chewed up empty packed remaining! Well, that saved her having to put them away and store them! (had I been able to I would have removed some cans of PAL too and hidden them!)

I also helped her hang out the washing- and managed to get hold of a sock (Tim’s) and ran around with it in my mouth for a bit to make sure it got a good airing!

I also helped her witht he recyling, makign sure all the tins were licked out properly and chewing up some paper for her. I think it was one of those confidential inner tubes of toilet rolls which need to be shredded securely for data protection purposes!

I think she is about to go and make tea ready for when Tim comes back so I will go and see if she wants any help. I think they are havign somethign with chicken as I saw that defrosting earlier so there may well be some tasty scraps for me!

Shopping

17 04 2009 - 23:48

Humans seem to enjoy going shopping and spending money. Yesterday Tim went out on his day off and bought his new computer desk, which he has now put up, and rearranged the furniture in his study several times to accommodate! He made sure there was still room by the window for me to sit and look out, so that is good!

Robinson Crusoe Today my female human was off work as it is Saturday and she went shopping too, on the hunt for a new filter for Rob’s tank. Last time they changed the water the filter went back in as usual but seemed to be making rather a strange noise. So they stopped using it, and the water got increasingly murky until you could hardly see Rob! Hilary has been feeling guilty about this for days, and last week had a failed attempt to buy a replacement filter (the shop wouldn’t sell her one till she assured them she had taken the old one fully apart and cleaned it!)

Anyway today her hunt took her to a pet shop at Dalgety Bay, where she managed to buy the same kind of pump as the old one. (an Elite mini filter if you are really interested) My male human has installed it and it seems to be working fine. She also took the opportunity to purchase some “holiday food” for Rob, so he can be fed while they are away on holiday soon. It seems he will just be left at home but me and Monty are to go to prison for the duration. I wish they would just leave us an ample supply of food at home too!

She also managed to go to the vets and get me some worming tablets. I rather hoped she had forgotton as it is some time since my reminder postcard came in. But, sadly she remeembered and the vet was open on a Saturday afternoon so they have been duely bought and I am expecting to be offered them any time now!

By the way, Hilary also collected her drycleaning, bought some food, and two novels, and also managed to buy herself a new blouse and a skirt – neither of which she actually needed! That’s humans for you!
